The Artist and the Studio

Meadowbank Farm Studio was built in 2000 on the site of a cow byre, which had been the furniture workshop of Ian Laval, the previous owner.
Its modern design incorporates traditional vernacular features and materials complementing the main house and echoes its split level design. The exhibiting end incorporates the design of a "gin case" common in farm buildings of the area and is built of sandstone.

The Artist
Sue Glassford has always had connections with Cumbria and has lived and worked here since 1980, exhibiting both locally and nationally. She works in varying media and subject matter and is influenced by the northern landscape and by travels abroad. Her Grandfather was a professional artist as is her daughter. She has been a member of the Lake Artists Society since 1992, exhibiting in their show in Grasmere each summer.

The Studio
There are changing exhibitions of work in the studio, by Sue Glassford and invited artists, and paintings are also shown in the house from time to time.
The studio is open most days, but it is advisable to phone if travelling any distance.
